My Journey in the World of Aviation:

Aviation has always been a symbol of ambition, exploration, and pushing boundaries. From the first flights of the Wright brothers to modern autonomous aircraft, this industry has continually evolved. Today, not only are we striving for new heights, but we are also changing the very way aviation operates by incorporating innovative software solutions, geospatial technologies, and fresh perspectives.

I am Katerina Veljanoska, a DevOps engineer and software developer with a passion for technology and innovation in aviation. My professional journey began as a computer engineering student, and over time, my love for technology led me to aviation. Today, I work on developing software systems for helicopters, where engineering, data, and human precision come together.

The Power of Software in Aviation:

Every flight is a perfect balance between technology, engineering, and data analysis. At the heart of this balance is software – systems that track flights in real-time, automate risk analysis, and predict potential issues. With the help of advanced digital solutions, pilots, engineers, and flight managers can make better, safer decisions.

However, one of the most fascinating areas that inspire me is geoinformatics (GIS) and its application in aviation. Technologies like FME and geospatial tools enable the analysis of flight corridors, improvement of flight routes, and reduction of fuel consumption. Additionally, they allow us to create interactive maps for better airspace management, increasing flight safety and efficiency.

Women in Aviation – It’s Time for Change!

Historically, aviation has been dominated by men, but today women are increasingly taking on leadership roles as pilots, engineers, software architects, and technological innovators. Despite this, the numbers still show that we have a long way to go for true gender equality in this industry. Therefore, platforms like Elevate(her) Aviation play a key role – they remind us that we are not alone and that together we can change the rules of the game.

I believe that the future of aviation will not only be filled with technological innovations but also with more women who will drive the digital transformation in this industry. Technology is the future, and women play a crucial role in it!
